I was once like this, most people know that smoking is addictive and is very risky but still they continue to smoke. they don't realize that 1 out of 3 smokers will die early. the lone 1 will die at around his 40's and the other 2 will die much later but commonly they will die 10-15 yrs. earlier than they would have.
Most smoking addicts would like to stop and indeed try. some of them succeed and manage to stop at the age of 60. but considerable damage has already been done and some of them are irreversible such as :
Cancer of the mouth.
Tobacco smoke can also cause gum disease, tooth decay and bad breath. The teeth become unsightly and yellow. Smokers may experience frequent headaches. And lack of oxygen and narrowed blood vessels to the brain can lead to strokes.
Smoke passes through the bronchi, or breathing tubes. Hydrogen cyanide and other chemicals in the smoke attack the lining of the bronchi, inflaming them and causing that chronic smoker's cough. Because the bronchi are weakened, you're more likely to get bronchial infections. Mucus secretion in your lungs is impaired, also leading to chronic coughing. Smokers are 10 times as likely to get lung cancer and emphysema as nonsmokers.
The effects of smoking on your heart are devastating. Nicotine raises blood pressure and makes the blood clot more easily. Carbon monoxide robs the blood of oxygen and leads to the development of cholesterol deposits on the artery walls. All of these effects add up to an increased risk of heart attack. In addition, the poor circulation resulting from cholesterol deposits can cause strokes, loss of circulation in fingers and toes and impotence.
The digestive system is also affected. The tars in smoke can trigger cancer of the esophagus and throat. Smoking causes increased stomach acid secretion, leading to heartburn and ulcers. Smokers have higher rates of deadly pancreatic cancer. Many of the carcinogens from cigarettes are excreted in the urine where their presence can cause bladder cancer, which is often fatal. High blood pressure from smoking can damage the kidneys.
The health effects of smoking have results we can measure. Forty percent of men who are heavy smokers will die before they reach retirement age, as compared to only 18 percent of nonsmokers. Women who smoke face an increased risk of cervical cancer, and pregnant women who smoke take a chance with the health of their unborn babies.
But the good news is that when you quit smoking your body begins to repair itself. Ten years after you quit, your body has repaired most of the damage smoking caused. Only you know what you have to give up, and how the benefits of smoking can be weighed against the benefits of stopping. Harassment and pressure from others who do not understand is often unhelpful. You will only stop when you have made a firm decision. When you do make up your mind, however, you can succeed, regardless of how addicted you may be. Those who wait until cancer or emphysema has set in aren't so lucky—these conditions are usually fatal. It's one more reason to take the big step and quit now
My girl didn't pressure me to stopping she said "you'll stop smoking when you stop smoking." and this is true the only person who can stop you from smoking is yourself. people may give you advice but ultimately it will be up to you
Ways to stop smoking

Motivate Yourself To Stop
your motivation is the strongest defnece you have. know the effects of not quitting. and will yourself to succeed in stopping. it's best to motivate yourself for your sake not for others
my motivation was my health. i was experiencing severe coughing and shortness of breath. my health was in jeopardy so i decided to stop.
another way is by writing the the things you will gain by quitting smoking. so now whenever your having a moment of weakness all you have to do is look at the list and you'll be re motivated.
My list was short it goes like:
Healthier me
Better Morning
More money for me and less for Marley
No more restlessness( the constant thought of when i will get my next smoke )
That was my list....
